 This 1-day in person training is designed to provide new and experienced advocates who serve survivors of intimate partner violence with the knowledge and skills need to increase competence and understanding of serving surviors from these marginalized communities.  It will also increase advocates’ capacity to understand bias and stigma related to sexual orientation, gender idenity and expression (SOGIE), and their impact on the well-being of LGBTQIA+ survivors navigating the DV/IPV services system.

 

·        Define terms associated with LGBTQIA+ identities
·      Describe the impact of bias and oppression on LGBTQIA+ IPV survivors
·      Describe issues and challenges that LGBTQIA+ IPV survivors may face
·        Barriers to seeking services

Hotel Stipend

 

Hotel Information and Stipends

GCADV has a VERY limited number of hotel stipends available to offset overnight lodging costs for registered training participants. The stipend recipient(s) MUST travel more than 120 miles one-way (240 roundtrip) in order to qualify for a hotel stipend. 

Apply Early: Stipends will be awarded on a first come, first served basis to the staff members that meet the above travel distance requirements. You are encouraged to apply early since stipends are limited.

Approval Notification: Stipend approval confirmations will be emailed to recipients shortly after they are received and will specify the number of hotel rooms and nights approved.

Reservations: GCADV will make hotel reservations for stipend recipients and notify you of your confirmation number and reservation details. If you wish to reserve rooms in addition to your stipend, please contact GCADV for hotel information. NOTE: Hotel stipends are awarded on the condition that the registered person(s) attends the entire training. If stipend recipients do not attend the entire training, GCADV may invoice your program for the hotel costs.
