QPR stands for Question, Persuade and Refer—the 3 simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. Gatekeepers can by anyone, but include parents, friends, neighbors, teachers, ministers, doctors, nurses, office supervisors, squad leaders, foremen, police officers, advisors, case workers, and many others who are strategically positioned to recognize the warning signs of suicide and refer someone who is at risk of suicide. 

Learning Objectives: Training participants will:  

• Learn the common causes of suicide, the warning signs of suicide and receive tips for persuading someone experiencing a suicide crisis to get help. 

• Receive information on the connections between domestic violence and suicide and learn where to refer a survivor who is experiencing suicidal thoughts for help. 

• Engage interactively to assess examples of crisis calls with survivors who are experiencing thoughts of suicide.
