This training is open ONLY to staff of the domestic violence programs or mental health service providers located within the following south Georgia Counties: Worth, Turner, Tift, Ben Hill, Irwin and Colquitt Counties

This 2-day training for professionals working in domestic violence and mental health will bring together service providers from both fields working in shared communities. The training will provide an integrated framework that supports thinking through ways to hold our understanding of the impact of interpersonal violence and coercive control, trauma experienced across the lifespan, the necessity to focus on accessibility and cultural responsiveness, and our foundation in social justice as we consider our responses to mental health conditions and emotional distress in our work. Together, we will explore perspectives, language used in our work, and practical strategies for effective collaboration that centers on physical and emotional safety, values relationship and connection, seeks sources of hope and resilience and is survivor defined to best meet the needs of people we serve.

Objectives:

• To link values and principles of an integrated approach to how we think about and respond to survivors of interpersonal violence experiencing emotional distress and other mental health conditions.

• To consider our own individual and systemic barriers that may influence our work and create challenges for the delivery of effective services.

• To incorporate effective and respectful strategies to navigate mental health concerns in our day-to-day work.

• To create cross-system understanding and opportunities for effective collaboration to best meet the service and support needs of survivors and their children.
