GCADV is pleased to announce our 2023 Advanced Advocacy Training Series*. This training series will apply a trauma-informed, survivor-centered lens to some of the more challenging aspects of advocacy. Sessions will be held the 3rd Thursday of each month and will include a 1-hour presentation** followed by an optional 30 minutes for practice, discussion, scenarios, and role plays***. Registration will remain open throughout the series. Advocates may choose which sessions to attend – attendance of all sessions is not required to participate.

Schedule of Session Topics:

• March 16: Goal setting with survivors

• April 20: Outward-facing advocacy vs. survivor emotional support

• May 18: Supporting survivors as parents

• June 15: Addressing substance abuse and addiction

• July 20: Navigating mental health

• September 21: Mandated reporting 

*Attendees only need to register once for the series; credits will be applied to the attendee certificate as individual sessions are completed. Each session is a stand-alone session and attendance is optional. 

**The first hour presentation portion of the session will be recorded and made available to those who have registered for the series.

***The last 30 minutes of each session is optional and will be highly interactive. Attendance of this part of the session will require access to both camera and microphone.
