Event Details

Using a trauma-informed approach, we will explore how power, control, and trauma affect survivors’ vulnerability to HIV and their decisions regarding disclosure and accessing care. Participants will discover effective strategies for incorporating discussions on sexual health, safety planning, and HIV disclosure support into survivor services, along with building sustainable partnerships that serve all survivors.

Founded in 2010, Positively Safe, a project of NNEDV, addresses the specific needs of domestic violence survivors living with HIV/AIDS. Its goal is to expand support services that address both domestic violence and HIV care and prevention, including safe housing, legal aid, healthcare, and specialized advocacy. Over the past 15 years, almost 10,000 advocates and service providers have been trained and supported by NNEDV’s Positively Safe team. Today, Positively Safe builds on more than 15 years of work with its Survivor Advisory Council and Survivor-led listening sessions, shaping the project's future.
