This training addresses various aspects of service provision for child and youth advocacy in domestic violence settings. In this one-day training, advocates will be provided with information, tools, knowledge and strategies to use in direct practice with children, youth and caregivers. Topics include:

  • Strengthening advocate self-care practice
  • Exploring the impact of witnessing domestic violence on child development
  • Reviewing strategies to building relationships with non-offending caregivers
  • Developing and creating child-centered safety plans
  • Highlighting awareness of cultural humility
  • Discussing ideas for faciliating activities and outings
  • Assessing access to community resources

This training is designed to help support advocates of children and youth currently working in Georgia domestic violence shelters or community-based domestic violence service programs. 

This training is pending approval by the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council administering office for the STOP Formula Grant Program.
