This 2-part workshop series, facilitated by The Network/La Red, will present an overview of LGBTQ+ communities, LGBTQ+ partner abuse, and strategies for creating welcoming services to LGBTQ+ survivors.The Network/La Red is a survivor-led, social justice organization that works to end partner abuse in lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, BDSM, polyamorous, and queer communities. Rooted in anti-oppression principles, their work aims to create a world where all people are free from oppression.
Space is limited and we ask that registrants commit to attending BOTH sessions. We also ask that no more than 2 people per organization register for the training.

Topics to be covered:
• Language, identities, and definitions for LGBTQ+ communities
• Identifying the difference between gender and sexuality
• Defining homo/bi/transphobia, heterosexism, cisgenderism and how they impact LGBTQ+ survivors
• Overview of power and control, and dynamics of abuse in LGBTQ+ communities
• Similarities and differences in domestic violence between LGBTQ+ communities and heterosexual, cisgender communities
• Barriers to support and services
• Respectful language and best practices for providers
• How to support LGBTQ+ survivors and create accessible services
