Strangulation is one of the most lethal forms of violence faced by survivors. Along with the risk of lethality, survivors of non-fatal strangulation are more likely to be re-assaulted by their abusive partner making safety planning with these survivors essential. During this training we will discuss safety before, during, and after an incident of non-fatal strangulation as well as how address common misconceptions survivors have about strangulation and how to discuss this important lethality factor with a trauma-informed approach.

This virtual training is the first in our 2025 Safety Planning Essentials Series where we will learn, discuss, and practice our safety planning skills around five potentially challenging survivor situations. Done in a "lunch and learn" style with a 60 minute presentation (no camera or microphone required) followed by an optional 30 minutes at the end for group discussion, scenarios, and role plays.
