Holidays bring unique challenges, heightened risks, and increased stress for survivors of domestic violence.  Navigating physical and emotional safety related to family gatherings, financial pressures, custody exchanges, and more make holiday-specific safety planning an essential skill for advocates and other support professionals working with survivors of domestic violence.

 

By the end of the training participants will:

  • Identify comon holiday-related risks and stressors experienced by survivors
  • Recognize how abusive partners may use the holidays as a tool for coercive control
  • Develop holiday-specific safety plans
  • Explore other programmatic ways to support survivors during the holidays
