Course Description

This session explores the transition from immediate response into short- and long-term recovery. Participants will consider staff stabilization, facility assessment, phased service restoration, financial and administrative recovery, survivor reconnection, community advocacy, and how lessons learned can strengthen future preparedness.


Continuing Education Hours: 2

This training has been approved by the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council for 2 continuing education units (CEUs) for state-certified domestic violence programs.

 


Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Identify immediate priorities when transitioning from disaster response into recovery.
  • Assess staff, survivor, facility, and organizational needs following a disaster.
  • Develop a phased approach to restoring services based on community needs and organizational capacity.
  • Use post-disaster reflection and lessons learned to strengthen future policies, partnerships, and preparedness efforts.

Indended Audience

This series is designed for Georgia domestic violence program staff involved in organizational preparedness, operations, survivor services, or emergency decision-making. Programs are encouraged to identify a small disaster response team.Teams may include leadership, shelter or program operations, survivor services, finance, communications, facilities, or other staff who may play a role during a disaster. All team members are encouraged to complete all 3 parts of this series.
